It started out as a great idea. After getting a large inheritance, Dorothy set up a commune near Synner’s Crag Farm In Northumberland, England. There would be a few select people, no phones, no solar, no electric, and they would grow their own food.
But the crops failed. There was no phone for emergencies. The only source of income was Dorothy’s pension, and there wasn’t much of that.
And then people started dying. Inexplicably. Not in a “drank the Kool-Aid” way. Each one died differently. One survivor, Luke was in a coma, unable to tell detectives what happened. Was this a cult gone wrong, or were there darker forces at work?
I can’t say more without spoilers, but if you like survival thrillers, this is a slow-burn, very different type of commune story.
Thank you to Love Books Tours and the author for sending me an advance reader’s copy.
